In March 2004 the Cambridgeshire.net Portal was launched, as more than simply a website, but a single point of access for individuals, community residents, organisations and businesses to the resources and services of your community partners.
Current partners include:
- County, District and City Councils of Cambridgeshire
Future Partners may include:
- Health
- Voluntary Organisations
- Learning Initiatives
The portal aims to make a significant contribution to improving access to information and services within Cambridgeshire. You will no longer need to know in advance who is providing particular services in order to access them. Relevant content from all public services will be accessible in one place.
Whats Next?
March 2004 saw the first live version of the portal, and further versions will be continually developed through user feedback.
The interactive nature of the portal will make it easier for citizens to access the information they need and improve self-service on-line. Future versions of the portal may offer a wider range of services, such as government transactions (e.g. reserving library books, marriage certificates, home care), personalisation of chosen and individually relevant information (e.g. specific traffic updates, housing information), and increasingly more information and services from existing and future partners.
The portal forms part of Cambridgeshire's modernisation of public services and information provision, within areas including housing, transport and roads, jobs and careers, environment, education and learning, news and communications, and government and democracy.
