About this activity
The Arts Award is the first award scheme to recognise the development of young artists and young arts leaders. It celebrates the creative progress made by young people and not just their artistic skill. Tailored to develop abilities of all individuals, the award will be a useful tool for a young person's further education and career opportunities. When a young person joins the youth theatre they have the opportunity to start the award scheme if they wish. Although Classworks is not the only centre for the awards in Cambridge, it is one of few centres running the scheme out of school. Outcome: The award is run through a collaboration between Arts Council England and Trinity Guildhall, London. It can be taken at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, which are accredited at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework. It runs in a similar way to the familiar Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme but is tailored to be arts specific. Classworks ran the Arts Award successfully in its pilot year (2004/5) and now have 2 fully trained Arts Award advisors available. How to apply: Contact Classworks Theatre.
