About this event

Annie James explores the 18th century "Gin Craze" and the government’s attempts to suppress it's influence on society. It utilizes the paintings of William Hogarth, which depict the effects of vast consumption of Gin. As we are now seeing the revival of the "Gin Palace", and a vast array of different types and flavours of Gin, will we also see similar repercussions? Or is this just a light-hearted fashion statement?

Booking required. Please speak to library staff or call 0345 045 5225 for a ticket.

Engage in the Afternoon is a club for people aged over 50. Each month there will be a guest speaker, and the opportunity to socialise, meet new people and enjoy refreshments.
