About this organisation

The CAMBRIDGESHIRE ASSOCIATION FOR LOCAL HISTORY was founded in 1951; the object of the Association is to advance the education of the public in the study of Local & Social History particularly, but not exclusively in Cambridgeshire and in furtherance of this to promote and organise co-operation with other Cambridgeshire Groups and Societies. To promote and carry out research, surveys and investigations, to hold lectures, meetings, discussions, seminars, exhibitions and outings. To encourage the above to be published; to help collect and disseminate, by publication or otherwise, information on all matters affecting the study of Local & Social History and exchange such information with other Cambridgeshire Groups and Societies. To promote and carry out the preservation of documents, records and artifacts and to further the Associations important Umbrella role as “CAMBRIDGESHIRE HISTORY’S” representative ‘VOICE’ at a County level.

OUR ENDURING AIM IS TO ENCOURAGE, EDUCATE AND SUPPORT THE STUDY OF LOCAL AND SOCIAL HISTORY IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE
